Coppelia Trip

Coppelia Trip

ADA, held their first school trip on Thursday 17th April 2014, when 6 pupils went to the Peacock Theatre in London to see the English National Ballet perform "My First Baller - Coppelia".

We left dancing at 11am, to travel by bus and tube to Holborn. As the weather was nice, we all took a packed lunch and ate at Lincolns Inn Field. After our lunch, some office workers were having a fitness lesson in the park, we joined in with the warm up exercises! We also spend some time collecting daisies and decorating Nicola's hair. We then walked through the park and the bandstand to make our way to the theatre.

On arriving at the theatre, we make our way to our seats, in the Royal Circle. There was much excitement, as for most of us it was our first visit to the Ballet. We collected a transcript of the story and read this whilst in our seats, so that we could understand what was happening. Dr Coppelius also narrated the story. We were very impressed by the dancing, and recognised some of the steps from our class work. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and would love to go again.

After the theatre, we made our way to Covent Garden and looked at the Royal Opera House. We also watched some of the street artists. Soon it was time to make our way home.

All of the students were very well behaved and a pleasure to take. Next year, we shall hopefully take a larger group, with a bit of help from some parents.
